Overhead Crane Training

This certificate program is designed for both experienced and inexperienced operators of industrial overhead cranes. This training is site specific and is conducted at the client location with the emphasis on being tailored to meet the specific needs of different applications.

 

Course Description: 4 hour theory class followed by practical evaluations

 

Theory Content:

Ø  Introduction

Ø  Occupational Health and Safety Act

Ø  Regulations 851 for Industrial Establishments

Ø  Standards and Guidelines New CSA B167-08

Ø  Pre-Operational Inspection

Ø  Slings, Attachments, and Lifting Hardware

Ø  Hitches and Sling Angles

Ø  Load Turning

Ø  Hand Signals

Ø  Summary

Ø  Written Test

 

Practical Evaluation:

Ø       Pre-Operational Check on Crane, Slings, Hardware…

Ø       Planning The Lift

Ø       Slinging/Rigging

Ø       Taking Out Load Swing

Ø       Safe Operating Procedures

Ø       Practical Test

 

Depending on the application, practical evaluations can require up to half an hour per person. More time may be required for newer operators. Whenever possible, practical evaluations should be conducted at the actual work site.
