WHMIS Training (Operator Training)

The Workplace Hazardous Material Information System “WHMIS” is a nation wide system designed to provide information for employees on potentially hazardous materials in the workplace.

WHMIS legislation was developed through the collective efforts of Government, Labour and Industry and has been in effect since October 1988. YIT’s WHMIS program provides you with the information to protect yourself by using the information provided on labels and Material Safety Data Sheets to ensure proper handling.

Course Duration: 4 hours (15 people maximum per class)

WHMIS Training (Train-the-Trainer)

Course Overview

This three-day comprehensive course will cover all legislative and compliance requirements to certify participants to certify and authorize on site employees on (name of the equipment they will get trained on).

Course Length: 3 days (Four Person Maximum)

Day One – (Operators Program)

  • Introduction and importance of training

  • Due Diligence Bill C-45 update
  • Site specific equipment review, machine dynamics

  • Pre-Operating Inspections
  • Safe Operating Procedures/Pre-Employment screening practices
  • Pedestrian/Worker Safety
  • Maintenance
  • Hazard Identification, positioning, and control techniques
  • Operators Theory Test
  • Observe Practical testing with Instructor

  • Initial Presentation for Students
  • Adult Teaching Techniques
  • Andragogy versus Pedagogy
